Closed Lost Deals from AlphaGrowth and Reasons

Gx Rocket Pool community

I’ve shared this update in the Rocket Pool Discord and invite you to follow the conversation here. To ensure transparency and encourage broader community involvement, I’m also posting it on the forum for your review and feedback.

I’d like to share an update on the deals we’ve been working on at AlphaGrowth. While we’ve had some promising opportunities, a few have ultimately fallen through due to various reasons. Below, I’ve categorized the challenges we’ve faced and would love to hear from the community on potential alternatives.

Our goal is to continue bringing high-quality deals to the DAO, and we value your input and insights. What strategies or approaches do you think we could explore to drive growth and adoption for rETH?

Deals that require incentives:

  • Aero/Velo: Willing to whitelist RPL for bribes (DeFi Utility)

  • Ronin: Willing mint $5M-$10M in rETH and incentivize on chain

  • Avax: Willing mint $5M-$10M in rETH and incentivize on chain

  • ApeChain: Willing mint $250K in rETH and incentivize on chain

  • Sky: Willing to create pools with RP but looking for matches of $100K

Deals that require incentives and lack market demand:

  • Euler: Will create rETH/ETH market for leverage looping

  • Flat.Money: Willing to keep exclusivity of basis trade to rETH

Deals that lack technical features and require incentives:

  • Scroll: Has their own LST using Dinero, can help incentivize rETH

  • zkSync: Has their own LST using Dinero, can help incentivize rETH

  • Morph L2: Looking for own flavor of LST, can help incentivize rETH

  • Sei: Has their own LST using Dinero, can help incentivize rETH

Deals that require rETH commitment and lack market demand:

  • Renzo: Add rETH as collateral (needs $100M commitment)

  • EtherFi: Add rETH as collateral (needs $25M commitment)

Deals that lack market demand:

  • Sonic: No interest in rETH

Deals that face regulatory challenges and lack technical features:

  • Super State: Willing to hold rETH but need to ensure the NO are outside the US

Deals that lack community support, require incentives, and lack market demand:

  • Tron: Willing mint $10M-$25M in rETH and incentivize on chain

Lastly, I would like to propose a conversation on RPL adoption campaign to boost DeFi utility, reduce sell pressure, and stabilize its price, driving ecosystem growth.

Look, I’m outing myself as a total DeFi- and general finance noob. And I know I have nothing to contribute here. But:

Whenever somebody in the Discord asks for contact information about “special offers”, somebody is quick to say “we don’t pay for listings”, as Mav has done here.

However, we are talking about “whitelist”, “bribes” and paying for “incentivicing” or “exclusivity of basis trade” . So I’m like: “What’s the difference, what the fuck are we doing?”

To me, all this is just advertisement, it doesn’t make the product any better. It’s like “here, have a free coke, maybe you will buy more?”.

I’m not against ads. I can understand ads that highlight our benefits. Or “Sky” that want to run nodes and are asking for a “mass purchase discount”, basically. So by running some pools, they are directly involved with Rocket Pool.

But just paying so that rETH is allowed/added on some MonkeyApeGorillaChain seems weird to me. Goal should be to make our product so good that the chain users will pressure the chain to add rETH out of its own.

That’s my rant. And again, I don’t understand anything that’s relevant here. My brain doesn’t even begin to understand what “Will create rETH/ETH market for leverage looping” means. So, I am not expecting an answer, just felt like rambling a little bit.

And to maybe still add something of miniscule value: I think stuff like “Willing to hold rETH but need to ensure the NO are outside the US” is cool because we could try to come up with a technical solution to this. So by improving our product, usage grows.

Well, rETH is currently not good enough for some people because the absolute lack of liquidity. We have been below peg for too long.

So one solution for this is to pay or incentivise people/protocol to provide rETH liquidity :person_shrugging:

Gm ser,

Thank you for sharing your insights. This kind of engagement is exactly what I was looking for and wanted to help drive progress and improvement within the DAO. I particularly appreciated your suggestion that our goal should be to make rETH so compelling that chain users will advocate for its adoption. To build on this idea, what specific changes or enhancements do you think Rocket Pool should prioritize to stay competitive and make rETH a desirable asset for users to hold?

I also want to state I almost spit my coffee this morning to your following statement, “just paying so that rETH is allowed/added on some MonkeyApeGorillaChain seems weird to me” :joy: Thank you for making my day with that statement
