How to Simplify Node Monitoring Without Adding Too Much Overhead?

Hello

As a node operator; one of the challenges I’ve faced is keeping monitoring lightweight but still reliable.:slightly_smiling_face: I currently rely on the smart node stack for most metrics but when I try adding external monitoring solutions; it often feels like I am duplicating effort / adding unnecessary overhead to the system. :innocent:

The balance between observability and resource usage is tricky; especially on smaller setups.

I would like to know how others in the community are approaching monitoring strategies. Are you sticking to the built-in tools / have you integrated with external services like Prometheus, Grafana / others? If so, what was the trade-off between simplicity and deeper visibility? Real-world setups / lessons learned would be extremely helpful.:slightly_smiling_face:

I have reviewed the Smartnode monitoring documentation but I would love to hear what has worked best in practice. :slightly_smiling_face: In exploring different tools for data and monitoring; I also looked into what is Microsoft SQL Server to understand how traditional database systems manage performance & logging.

Are there approaches that allow streamlined alerts and insights without bloating the node’s footprint?

Thank you !!:slightly_smiling_face:

The easiest and most reliable solution is probably using external monitoring, e.g. https://beaconcha.in/.
