Introducing Microgrants

Hey everyone,

Following internal discussion and a GMC vote, we’re introducing a microgrant framework to continue recognizing contributions across the Rocket Pool ecosystem.

Given current treasury constraints, the GMC does not have the capacity to fund many contributions at historical levels. At the same time, it’s important that valuable work continues to be acknowledged and that contributors remain engaged with the protocol.

This approach is intended to strike that balance.

What’s changing?

Microgrants will be issued using the existing GMC grant system — there are no process changes or new application types.

Contributors should continue submitting standard applications as usual. The GMC may choose to award a microgrant where appropriate.

Microgrant Tiers

Microgrants will typically fall into one of the following ranges:

• 10 RPL
• 50 RPL
• 100 RPL

How to think about microgrants

• They can be used for both new submissions and retrospective recognition
• They are not a separate track — just a smaller form of grant
• They are intended as partial recognition given current constraints
• Contributions awarded a microgrant may be revisited in the future if treasury conditions improve
• There is no limit on how many microgrants a contributor can receive

Why this approach?

This allows the GMC to continue supporting and recognizing contributors today, while preserving flexibility to reassess and potentially provide additional compensation in the future.

The committee will monitor how this works in practice and adjust as needed.

As always, feedback is welcome.

Will get to work on proposals - love this! Think that’s a better way to (1) develop a working relationship with community members and (2) pre-test smaller proposals that could provide larger value to the community later on.
