New RPIP-74 Sentiment Poll: change to immediate queue closure

Considering that not enough rETH is coming in to put much of a dent in the minipool queue and the worry that the discount will keep the amount of rETH minted low for a while, there has been talk of closing the minipool queue asap.

You are not having deja vous. RPIP-74 which closes the minipool queue two weeks before Saturn 1 launch in January, had a successful sentiment poll to take the RPIP to a vote. In light of the delay of launch, the snapshot on RPIP-74 has not taken place, yet.

This sentiment poll is to check pDAO opinion on moving the queue close date to a convenient time for the team starting from when this RPIP passes vote to at least six weeks prior estimated launch at the latest (currently December 8). Considering the time for sentiment plus RPIP-74 snapshot vote, this would mean the minipool queue would close sometime in the later half of November to the first days of December.

If this poll is deemed successful, RPIP-74 language will be changed to the below and the snapshot vote on RPIP-74 will go forward:

Old Language (would close the queue January 5)

  • The minipool queue SHALL be closed on October 15, 2025 at 3:00 a.m. UCT [OPEN TO CHANGING TO SOMETHING MORE CONVENIENT FOR TEAM] (14 days before Saturn 1 launch), or to the best estimate of 14 days if the launch date changes. A small deviation from that date is allowed for convenience of implementation.

New Language (would close the queue December 8 or sooner)

  • The minipool queue SHOULD be closed soon after this RPIP is enacted, but SHALL be closed by December 08, 2025 at 3:00 a.m. UCT (6 weeks before Saturn 1 launch), or to the best estimate of 6 weeks if the launch date changes. A small deviation from that date is allowed for convenience of implementation.

+1. I don’t think we should spend energy on small interventions. If this decision was made considering the first release date it would damage the protocol and would need to be reviewed.

Seven days on a revote is acceptable to move on, imo. With 31 votes and 84% favorable, we will say there is good sentiment to alter the RPIP as above and request it go to snapshot vote as soon as is possible.
