The GMC has drafted a new RPIP to supersede RPIP-40.
Summary
This RPIP supersedes RPIP-40 to reduce the number of Grants and Bounties Management Committee (GMC) members from nine (9) to seven (7).
All other procedures, responsibilities, and governance provisions from RPIP-40 remain unchanged.
Motivation
The Grants and Bounties Management Committee (GMC) was originally expanded to nine members to more efficienctly distribute the workload. It was also used to facilitate subcommittees across multiple categories of applications. Over time, however, the number of applications received has declined, subcommittees are not utilized as much, and spending projections for the upcoming year are lower. Reducing the GMC to seven members aligns its structure with current workload and fiscal needs while maintaining sufficient capacity and diversity for effective governance.
Key Changes from RPIP-40
- Committee size: Reduced from nine (9) to seven (7) members.
- Motivation section: Updated to reflect current workload and spending context.
- All other sections (Responsibilities, Administrator Role, Voting, Communications, etc.) remain verbatim from RPIP-40.
Implementation Plan
- This RPIP takes effect upon approval by the pDAO.
- Current members will be removed mid-term solely due to this change.
- Any members removed will be placed as reserves in the order of the votes they received during the GMC election.
- The GMC Administrator will update RPIP membership records to reflect the new size.
- A vote will be held to adjust GMC member stipends proportionally to reflect the reduced committee size (from nine to seven members).
