Revised GMC Split Proposal

The vote to increase the oDAO’s share (RPIP-68) is now underway. Meanwhile, discussions continue on determining the optimal allocation for the remaining inflation distribution.

This conversation initially emerged as part of a broader strategy to potentially increase GMC member allocations. However, this proposal does not directly affect member compensation—it primarily determines the GMC’s overall budget for protocol development. Any future changes to GMC member compensation, including adjustments to the Global Stipend Rate, will require a separate community vote following the outcome of this proposal.

I recommend increasing the GMC’s share for the following reasons:

  • Proven Efficiency – After over two years of operation, the GMC has refined its processes and demonstrated its ability to allocate funds effectively.
  • Market Conditions & Treasury Strength – With RPL’s price decline affecting the treasury, the GMC has adopted a cautious, strategic approach to spending. A larger budget would provide more flexibility to fund initiatives that drive protocol growth.
  • Potential for Increased Committee Compensation – As previously outlined here, revising the Global Stipend Rate remains a separate decision but would require sufficient budget allocation to be viable in the future.

A well-funded GMC enables continued investment in protocol development, community initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
