Round 29 - GMC Call for Grant Applications - Deadline is October 7

This thread is for applications for Rocket Pool’s September 7, 2025 - October 7, 2025 grants. Please only post grant applications in this thread. If you would like to discuss and/or ask questions about any applications you see in this thread, we ask that you do so in this separate forum thread which has been established for all community discussions related to this round of applications. Only those grant applications that are posted in this thread and timestamped by October 7, 2025 at 23:59 (11:59 PM) UTC will be considered. Any grants posted after that deadline will be carried over to the next award period.

This is the expected schedule for round 29:

  • Application Period (September 7 - October 7)
  • Scoring Deadline (October 21)
  • Final Voting Amendments, Discussion and Finalization (October 22 - October 25)
  • Award Announcement (October 26)
Differences Between Grants and Bounties Grants are intended to be applied for by those who are wishing to carry out the work themselves. Bounties are open-ended goals that could be met by anyone, including those other than the proposing party. In other words, if I believed that Rocket Pool needed a fifty-foot paper mache orange rocket for publicity purposes and I wanted to be the one to built it, I would apply for a grant. If I instead thought Rocket Pool needed a fifty-foot paper mache orange rocket for publicity purposes but I wanted it to be open to whoever built it first to claim the reward (similar to a prize), then I’d apply for a bounty.

To guide you in your application, the GMC has established the following goals and the following scoring rubric:

GMC Goals

Grants, bounties, and retrospective awards should make it easier and/or more attractive to do one or more of the following:

  • become a node operator

  • operate a node, mint rETH

  • hold or use rETH

  • improve the quality of life for the protocol and its community.

Grants Rubric

When evaluating grant applications, the GMC takes into account the following goals:

  • If the application is successful, to what extent does it further the GMC goals?

  • To what extent can the application be feasibly carried out by the person(s) proposed to complete it?

  • If the application is successful, how large is the benefit to the protocol relative to the size of the proposed costs

Name of Grant

Staking Forum Sponsorship at ETH Latam São Paulo

What is the work being proposed?

ETH Kipu proposes the presence of Rocket Pool into the Staking Forum, a dedicated one-day track on November 8, 2025, during ETH Latam in São Paulo, Brazil.

This offers Rocket Pool a speaking slot, an online workshop previous to the event, business development opportunities, on-site branding, co-marketing opportunities, and positioning alongside key players in the biggest financial hub of South America.

There’s a vibrant scene of crypto-natives and home stakers in the region, some of which belong to the Rocket Pool community. We will also very much welcome any contributor who wants to stop by before heading to Devconnect Argentina.

ETH Latam is the leading Ethereum conference in Latin America, having draw 4,000+ participants in their previous versions, and now put as the perfect stop before Devconnect in a city with an economy almost the same size as Singapore.

Event details: ethlatam.org

Is there any related work this builds off of?

Yes, this builds on ETH Kipu’s successful ETH Latam conferences since 2022 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Bogotá (Colombia), and San Pedro Sula (Honduras), attracting over 4,000 attendees and fostering Ethereum education.

It also draws from our ecosystem initiatives, like free Solidity courses in more than 17 cities in the region, or staking education with more than 15 people receiving a machine and resources to become home stakers.

Will the results of this project be entirely open source (MIT, GPL, Apache, CC BY license or similar)? If not, which parts will not be, why, and under what license will they be published?

No, the event isn’t related to open-source creation. Talks will be recorded and published for free in the YouTube channel of ETH Latam.

N/A

Work

Who is doing the work?

ETH Kipu, a non-profit advancing Ethereum in Latin America, with support from our event team and partners.

What is the background of the person(s) doing the work? What experience do they have with such projects in the past?

ETH Kipu’s team has organized major Ethereum events since 2022, drawing thousands and helping projects grow in the region. We also have a big education unit teaching people all over Latin America about Ethereum, Solidity and Staking.

The Staking Forum is specifically spearheaded by Enti, who has years of experience in protocol research and contributions to Ethereum staking projects.

What is the breakdown of the proposed work, in terms of milestones and/or deadlines?

Rocket Pool receives: a dedicated talk slot (core team representative), medium on-site branding, 4 general + 2 VIP tickets, co-marketing (e.g., 4 promotional posts on ETH Latam channels, content provided by us), full attendee RSVP list post-event, and team access.

  • Milestone 1 (Aug-Sep 2025): Secure Rocket Pool speaker, integrate branding, launch co-marketing.

  • Milestone 2 (Nov 8, 2025): Execute event with Rocket Pool’s session and networking.

  • Milestone 3 (Nov-Dec 2025): Share RSVP list, materials, and post-event report.

How is the work being tested? Is testing included in the schedule?

N/A

How will the work be maintained after delivery?

N/A

Costs

What is the acceptance criteria?

Success if:

  • We meet our targets: ~2,500 attendees for ETH Latam, +150 pax in the Staking Forum through the day.

  • Rocket Pool gets exposure in Latin America and can pick up opportunities via presence and company roadshow.

What is the proposed payment schedule for the grant? How much USD $ and over what period of time is the applicant requesting?

$3,000 USD one-time payment upon grant approval, to cover venue, marketing, and setup costs.

How will the GMC verify that the work delivered matches the proposed cadence?

GMC receives updates and a post-event report (attendance, photos, feedback, metrics). If any Rocket Pooler attends, they can also provide direct input for transparency.

What alternatives or options have been considered in order to save costs for the proposed project?

There’s little to no benchmark for a staking-focused event in Brazil, we offer great value to Rocket Pool as this would hopefully help establish a base in the region for new rocketpoolers.

Have you already been compensated by the RP protocol in any way for this work?

No.

Conflict of Interest

Does the person or persons proposing the grant have any conflicts of interest to disclose? (Please disclose here if you are a member of the GMC or if any member of the GMC would benefit directly financially from the grant).

None; ETH Kipu has no GMC affiliations.

Will the recipient of the grant, or any protocol or project in which the recipient has a vested interest (other than Rocket Pool), benefit financially if the grant is successful?

No; funds support the event. Any growth is ecosystem-wide.

Hi GMC and Rocket Poolers,

I’m posting as co-founder of RockSolid, a liquid vault platform that just launched our inaugural vault, the RockSolid rETH Vault in partnership with the Rocket Pool core team.

You can learn more about us here:

Name of Grant

RockSolid rETH Vault RPL Rewards, Rewards Claiming and BD

What is the work being proposed?

Grant

We are seeking a grant of 10,000 RPL in order to:
[Changed to USD on request from GMC] We are seeking a grant of $50,000 USD in order to:

  • Develop an “additional rewards” feature for the rETH Vault to receive RPL and make it claimable by vault depositors
  • Continue negotiating new incentives for rETH
  • Continue pushing for extending rETH’s reach via deployment in new chains such as Plasma

NOTE WELL: Instead of selling the RPL/BOLD/rETH to fund the development, we will instead send all of it to the vault as “additional rewards” claimable as RPL by vault holders. If, for operational reasons, GMC can only send in BOLD or similar, that’s fine, we’ll just buy (:fire:) RPL on the open market with it.

Some examples of the benefits to-date:

  • 1650 rETH in the vault
  • Approximately 3,000 of rETH deposited into Spark, generating new demand for rETH in the process and helping to close the discount.
  • rETH integrated into Hemi bridge
  • Incentives negotiated with new chains (not all able to be closed to lack of bridge integrations)
  • New narrative and energy for rETH

Is there any related work this builds off of?

Yes, the core RockSolid Vaults platform built over the past 12 months. (We chose to request this grant instead of a retroactive one)

Will the results of this project be entirely open source (MIT, GPL, Apache, CC BY license or similar)? If not, which parts will not be, why, and under what license will they be published?

The smart contracts for RockSolid Vaults are open source, but licensed under BSL lagoon-v0/LICENSE at main · hopperlabsxyz/lagoon-v0 · GitHub

The vault platform (web app, API, etc.) is closed source for the forseeable future.

Note, however, the RPL will be used to improve the vault returns for vault depositors (development costs will be paid out of our own balance sheet)

Benefit

Why this helps rETH

One of the guiding principles of our personal and company support of rETH is that rETH is good for stake distribution and therefore good for Ethereum. And for rETH to reach its potential, it needs to compete in terms of DeFi utility, liquidity and APR; in addition to the great advantages it has today in terms of decentralization.

By pooling rETH in the vault, we are able to:

  • Deploy it efficiently to a variety of DeFi opportunities to earn rewards for deposiors (another reason to buy and hold rETH)
  • Negotiate NEW incentives on behalf of rETH depositors (rock.rETH holders)

The higher the effective APR AND the more additional rewards we can provide, the more rETH we can attract, which leads to even more opportunities. In short, it creates a fly wheel.

Why this helps RPL

Protocol tokens are at some level, a way for the market to express their excitement or otherwise about a protocol. We think RockSolid is an excting development for Rocket Pool and it is in the direct interest of the protocol and RPL holdrs for the GMC to fund its development.

Saturn offers very exciting opportunities for RPL stakers, especially in terms of the proposed fee flow or “buy/LP & burn”. However, those upcoming features are not widely known outside the Rocket Pool ecosystem.

By distributing RPL (via a new claim feature) to protocol aligned actors (i.e. rETH vault depositors), we get the opportunity to get a new cohort of holders excited about RPL and Rocket Pool. We believe act of claiming RPL to a wallet and the active decision required to sell or hodl, will lead many to research and find out about the upcoming Saturn launch. In fact, this would be happening around the same time as the Core Team is exercising the marketing grant (link)

Group Benefits
Potential rETH holders Post staking for rETH, rETH holders have additional opportunities to earn rewards in DeFi. Specifically, they will get the opportunity to earn RPL rewards if this grant succeeds.
rETH holders Another reason to buy and hold rETH
Potential NOs The RockSolid rETH vault is already applying significant buy pressure to rETH via looping and supply to Spark. We currently have approximately 2,900 rETH in Spark
NOs NOs want more rETH minting to run more nodes
Community It’s new project, initiative and exciting development
RPL holders A new cohort of holders to explore RocketPool.

Which other non-RPL protocols, DAOs, projects, or individuals, would stand to benefit from this grant?

RockSolid directly benefits, as the RPL improves the appeal of the vault via additional rewards. We hope that attracts more rETH (which is good for Rocket Pool) and also good for us as we earn fees on the vault.

Work

Who is doing the work?

Our team

What is the background of the person(s) doing the work? What experience do they have with such projects in the past?

The GMC and community should review the existing platform https://app.rocksolid.network to get a sense of our capabilities and quality of work.

What is the breakdown of the proposed work, in terms of milestones and/or deadlines?

October

  • On receipt of RPL, enable the “Additional rewards” section of the UI to communicate to vault holders they are eligible for RPL rewards
  • Evaluate distribution mechanisms (very likely to utilize https://merkl.xyz/)
  • Select distribution mechanism

November

  • Integrate “Claim” functionality (UI on top of merkl) for depositors to claim RPL rewards

We expect RPL rewards to be claimable by vault holders by end of November.

How is the work being tested? Is testing included in the schedule?

  • We have test vaults on Hoodi and Base and will test distribution, accounting and claiming there.

How will the work be maintained after delivery?

  • By RockSolid team

Costs

Costs to be borne by us.
10,000 RPL requested for the vault to be distributed to depositors.

What is the acceptance criteria?

Use case 1) That a user can view their accrued amount of RPL proportional to their share of the vault
Use case 2) That a user can claim their accrued amount of RPL.

What is the proposed payment schedule for the grant? How much USD $ and over what period of time is the applicant requesting?

All up front on approval is preferred. Spreading over October and November is also possible.

Having the RPL sitting in the Vault’s wallet will be a good signal to depositors that rewards are coming, while the distribution mechanism is built.

How will the GMC verify that the work delivered matches the proposed cadence?

We can provide private links to the functionality in a test vault, on request.

What alternatives or options have been considered in order to save costs for the proposed project?

We are bearing the costs. In terms of grant size, you want enough tokens that each holder is claiming “multiple” RPL, so they’re more likely to actually investigate and potentially hold the token long term.

If you end up offering very small rewards, e.g. 0.1-2 RPL or something per holder, it doesn’t really move the needle in terms of rewards to generating interest in this new protocol of which you’re now a token holder.

Have you already been compensated by the RP protocol in any way for this work?

  • Indireclty through fees on the vault
  • We do expect to receive a modest IMC grant

Conflict of Interest

Does the person or persons proposing the grant have any conflicts of interest to disclose? (Please disclose here if you are a member of the GMC or if any member of the GMC would benefit directly financially from the grant).

Only that we’re a private company and we believe we’re operating in a very protocol aligned manner.

Not a member of any committee.

Will the recipient of the grant, or any protocol or project in which the recipient has a vested interest (other than Rocket Pool), benefit financially if the grant is successful?

Yes, the more successful the vault, and the more successful Rocket Pool is, the more valuable our company, especially at this early stage.

Rocket Watch x RockSolid

What is the work being proposed?

Add relevant events for the RockSolid rETH vault to Rocket Watch, e.g. deposits and withdrawals. Optionally, also a status command like there is for Constellation. I will list these separately so you can decide to only fund part of it.

Is there any related work this builds off of?

Basically anything related to Rocket Watch.

Will the results of this project be entirely open source (MIT, GPL, Apache, CC BY license or similar)? If not, which parts will not be, why, and under what license will they be published?

Yes, the code will be in the rocketwatch repo on GitHub.

Benefit

Group Benefits
Potential rETH holders N/A
rETH holders N/A
Potential NOs N/A
NOs N/A
Community Better insight into inflows / outflows of the vault and how that interacts with rETH demand.
RPL holders N/A

I could potentially find benefits for more of these, but they would be kind of a reach and I feel like a benefit to the community is enough for a grant this size.

Which other non-RPL protocols, DAOs, projects, or individuals, would stand to benefit from this grant?

RockSolid themselves potentially.

Work

Who is doing the work?

Me, @haloooloolo.

What is the background of the person(s) doing the work? What experience do they have with such projects in the past?

You’ve paid me for Rocket Watch related things before.

What is the breakdown of the proposed work, in terms of milestones and/or deadlines?

  1. Tracking of RockSolid events

  2. New /rocksolid_vault command

How is the work being tested? Is testing included in the schedule?

A bit to make sure it works, the deliverables aren’t rocket science.

How will the work be maintained after delivery?

I’ll update contract addresses or ABIs in Rocket Watch if need be down the line.

Costs

Event tracking - $250
Status command - $250
———————————-
$500

What is the acceptance criteria?

Should be fairly obvious if it works. I’ll have deposit and withdrawal events at minimum. Status command should at least show the total TVL and some info on fees and the like as those should also be easily accessible on-chain. Maybe also APY, will need to check how easy that would be to calculate.

What is the proposed payment schedule for the grant? How much USD $ and over what period of time is the applicant requesting?

$500, just all at once.

How will the GMC verify that the work delivered matches the proposed cadence?

This should be done in a day or two so not that much to verify other than the end result.

What alternatives or options have been considered in order to save costs for the proposed project?

This is probably the cheapest version of it, especially if you only fund one of the two. In the other direction, you could get a fancier status command with more info (maybe even some details on the specific strategies in the vault) for $250 - $500 more.

Nope.

Will the recipient of the grant, or any protocol or project in which the recipient has a vested interest (other than Rocket Pool), benefit financially if the grant is successful?

Nope.
