Round 30 (October 7 - November 7) Grants / Bounties Retrospective Awards Results

The GMC has concluded discussions and scoring for the Round 30 (October 7 - November 7) Grants/Bounties/RA Award Round.

This post also begins the fourteen-day clock during which, according to RPIP-15, “[a]nyone MAY file an RPIP disputing a grant, bounty, or retrospective award within two weeks of the announcement of recipients. Such an RPIP SHALL be subject to a snapshot vote.” Any awards not subject to such a challenge will become official on December 12, 2025 at 23:59 UTC.

Detailed Award Results

Name: Snapshot Voting
Proposer: Langers
Type: Grant
Subcommittee: All
Link to Application: Round 30 - GMC Call for Grant Applications - Deadline is November 7 - #2 by langers
Decision: Approve at Custom Amount
Awarded Funding: $2,205
Requested Funding:~$3,600+
Score: 3.56
Comments: The GMC approves $2,205 for up to three months of Snapshot voting, payable month-to-month at $735 per active month, effective November 2025 through January 2026.

Key points of consensus:

  • Snapshot must be funded in the short term to avoid halting governance or delaying critical votes.

  • There is broad preference for paying only in months Snapshot is used, since Rocket Pool does not hold Snapshot votes every month.

  • $735 per active month is approved to cover both the base cost and required tax obligations.

  • Funding three months provides a reasonable timeline for the team to evaluate alternatives, including potential on-chain voting options or lower-cost third-party systems.

  • Several members expressed reservations about Snapshot as a long-term solution but agreed that temporary funding is necessary while transition paths are explored.

  • Some members noted that free or cheaper alternatives exist and encouraged the team to accelerate research toward a permanent replacement.

  • Paying month-to-month avoids overcommitting funds and allows the GMC to revisit the situation if a better solution becomes available sooner.

While individual preferences varied—ranging from single-month funding to full 6-month cover—the committee agreed that 3 months of month-to-month authorization strikes the appropriate balance between operational continuity and fiscal prudence.

Name: Support Payments #5
Proposer: haloooloolo
Type: Grant
Subcommittee: All
Link to Application: Round 30 - GMC Call for Grant Applications - Deadline is November 7 - #3 by haloooloolo
Decision: Approve
Awarded Funding: $10,000
Requested Funding: $10,000
Score: 4.43
Comments: The GMC approves $10,000 in funding for halooloolo’s support work over a 3-month period, covering escalations, troubleshooting, and documentation during the Saturn 1 and Fusaka transition.

Overall sentiment emphasized that:

  • Support is critical to Rocket Pool’s health, especially during major protocol upgrades.

  • Saturn 1 and Fusaka are expected to generate significant new support volume, including questions from node operators and community members.

  • High-quality support and clear documentation are considered core strengths of Rocket Pool, not optional services.

  • Multiple members emphasized that support is directly tied to improving node operator performance, reliability, and readiness.

  • $10,000 for 3 months was viewed as reasonable and aligned with past compensation, even in a constrained treasury environment.

  • Some members expressed treasury concerns, with views ranging from preferring cheaper funding to considering support a top priority worth paying for even if treasury reserves are limited.

  • One abstention due to conflict of interest (COI) was recorded and does not reflect disagreement with the application.

There were also minority cautionary notes:

  • A few members expressed concern about treasury constraints, especially at lower RPL prices.

  • One view suggested that node operator support primarily benefits NOs and should ideally be funded sustainably, but still agreed support is needed at this time.

  • No members expressed opposition to providing support—only differing levels of concern about paying 100% of the cost long-term.

  • Taken together, the feedback shows strong practical consensus:

Support must be maintained during Saturn 1 and Fusaka, and this application is necessary and reasonably priced.

Member Participation

All members participated in the decision process. Steely abstained from voting on the Support Funding application due to a conflict of interest.

Final Voting Stages

No members chose to reject the entire slate.

IMPORTANT
Based on the current value of the treasury, the committee will be extremely selective with the applications they approve in the near future. The GMC recommends only submitting applications that are of highest priority or could be considered an “emergency”.
