Subcommittees
Subcommittees empower committee members to specialize in specific areas. In the past, members were expected to have a broad understanding of all systems. Now, knowledge can be more focused. The current subcommittees include:

  • Development: focusing on tools built on top of the protocol, such as Rocket Scan, RescueNode, RocketWatch, etc.
  • Research: dedicated to research papers, governance writing, etc. Examples include: OpenUX Research, Tokenomics Rework, Rapid Research Incubator, etc.
  • Marketing: creating educational content, videos, graphics, etc. Examples include: Cyfrin Educational Courses, Beaconcha.in Advertising Campaign, etc.

Subcommittees are utilized in award rounds when needed to distribute the workload.

Compensation
Members are compensated $390 in RPL per month if they fulfill their basic duties.

Current Roster Member Activity
Below is a chart of committee member’s message counts from November 10, 2023 to October 16, 2024.

How To Nominate

Per RPIP-10 (RPIPs/RPIP-10.md at main · rocket-pool/RPIPs · GitHub 26 3), this thread will be live at least 5 days.

  • Anyone can nominate anyone, including themselves
  • Anyone who is currently a GMC member or previously a GMC member can be nominated again
  • Anyone can remove themselves from consideration simply by saying so
  • After 5 days, there will be a “this thread is closed” comment, and the final list will then be generated

If you are nominated and don’t remove yourself from consideration, please read the “Nominee information sharing” section of RPIP-10 so you can be ready to provide your statements. It is also recommended to choose a subcommittee you are interested in.

I’d like to nominate my self for year 3. I filled in for Joe when he stepped down and have been enjoying my role. It took some time to learn the ropes but I feel like more comfortable now and ready to be an even better GMC member for the next cycle.

Happy to accept Waq’s nomination and express my interest to run again to server the pDAO as a member of the GMC. (Thanks WAQ for the nomination and the reminder on RF today.)

For this post, the role of rocketnet will be performed by rocknet, we apologize for any disappointment.

I appreciate the nomination, but I respectfully decline this year.

I enjoyed participating this year, and did the best I could to serve the community. I think it’s good for there to be some turnover in governance committees, so that’s one reason I’m stepping aside. I encourage those that are interested to nominate themselves. If you spend a lot of time involved with Rocket Pool, but haven’t served yet, you should definitely consider it.

It is a time commitment, I’d encourage applicants to expect to dedicate an average of 4 hours per week, and appreciate the periods that level isn’t required. The more engagement there is among the committee the better. A lot of this time can be somewhat async, but there are also times it’s valuable to get together. There is a stipend now, which is nice, but be realistic in your ability to dedicate the time. Ideally each applicant is willing and able to go the full 12 months. It’s great that we can slot in alternates, but a lot of mid-year churn could become inefficient.

My subcommittee was development, although in the latter 1/3 of the year we started to move away from them, mostly based on the applications at the time. Still, filling my slot with another technical individual may be better than not. Having a decent representation of various lenses is very helpful.

Again, it’s been my pleasure to serve. If you’re reading this post and are not already on a committee, I strongly suggest considering running.

Thanks @ShfRyn. I would like to self-nominate for the GMC.
This year I finally hung up my keyboard and mouse and enjoying the opportunity to attend to projects that I am passionate about, Rocketpool and Ethereum important ones.
I would be keen to be involved in the development committee.

I believe the Year 2 roster was exceptionally strong and successful as a committee. I highly encourage voting for those individuals who have gained valuable experience, developed the process, and are committed to continuing their contributions.

Some of those dedicated members will not be returning, leaving some significant roles to fill.

For Year 3, I nominate:

@Snocones - Active member of the community, with a high level knowledge for the protocol and Ethereum.

@leighm.eth - Always helping in support. Developed helpful node operator instructional videos around Atlas.

@Kevster.eth - A former GMC member who stepped down due to availability, has recently been very active and brings valuable knowledge and experience in the blockchain industry.

There’s no way I’ll get voted in ahead of the other fantastic community members here, but I accept the nomination nonetheless. Thanks @ShfRyn!

Thank you for the nomination.

I accept and would be happy to serve another term. To everyone from the current cohort who is stepping back, your work was very appreciated.

I would like to nominate myself for the GMC. I have more availability this year than last as well as slightly more experience and ideas for DAO governance.

Some other people I would like to see in the GMC include @NonFungibleYokem @ramana @Patches @LongForWisdom . These people all have a mix of technical, big-picture, and governance skills that I think the GMC would be lucky to include.

I don’t know if sckuzzle’s message counts as an official nomination, but in case it does I’m happy to accept the nomination.

Yes, I was vague. I am officially nominating @NonFungibleYokem @ramana @Patches @LongForWisdom

Once again I am officially uninterested at this juncture. All the reasons I’ve stated in the past still hold, but additionally I am strapped for time and would prefer to spend all my RP energy on governance and development.

Thanks for the vote of confidence though :orange_heart:

I was going to stand down as I thought there were a lot more acceptances than have actually happened.

Still happy to stand.

Steely.

Just to make sure you don’t stand down, I’m nominating @Steely. I will run a vicious smear campaign against myself, advocating for Steely’s success. The dirt I have on me is plentiful.

I appreciate the nomination, but I’ll pass. My schedule in real life is not that conducive to frequent synchronous meetings and calls. On top of that there are a couple of very big projects on my plate at the fiat mine over the coming year and I need to make sure I can still fulfill my commitments to keeping up with IMC work.
