Grants Application
Project
What is the work being proposed?
A series of animated illustrations that visually explains important features of the Rocket Pool protocol. I think there’s a great opportunity for more visual representations of various important aspects of Rocket Pool.
I propose to create one extremely high quality tweet thread per month. This would be a highly visual thread with 8+ individual tweets accompanied by 3-6 second long looping GIFs that would make highly engaging content.
I would propose a monthly community vote on potential topics, to establish sentiment over which educational topic to focus on for that particular month.
The already great presence of Rocket Pool evangelists on twitter who would share it far and wide. This content would be designed to be shareable, informative, illuminating, exciting and unique.
-
People unaware of Rocket Pool may become interested by the interesting and artistic content.
-
People already aware of Rocket Pool may be able to correct any misconceptions they have about it and/or staking as a whole.
The core idea is to provide high impact visuals to Crypto-Twitter (and beyond) where attention can be hard to attract and retain. I hope these animations can serve as a timeless visual aid to successfully explaining aspects of Rocket Pool.
Is there any related work this builds off of?
I (@sleety) have teased various concepts of what this would look like. I also provided animations for the Rocket Pool x Bankless ad which serves as a flavor of the animated artwork. Here are some more examples, however these are just concepts and not representative of the proposed work.

Will the results of this project be entirely open source
The final artwork for Rocket Pool will be able to be used by anyone, attribution appreciated but not required.
Benefits - enter N/A where appropriate
How does this help people looking to stake ETH for rETH?
Providing visual demonstrations of staking with Rocket Pool
Potential Artwork
- animation detailing various ways to buy rETH
- animations showing the benefit of a Decentralised LSD
- animations showing how rETH accrues value
How does this help rETH holders?
Would be designed to quickly remind them of the benefits of rETH as their LSD of choice
How does this help people looking to run a Rocket Pool node for the first time?
Node Operation can be intimidating. I believe a well thought out series of animations could be the activation energy required for potential node operators to look further into the Rocket Pool docs/community.
How does this help people already running a Rocket Pool node?
Some of the more technical/lesser utilised aspects of the smart node stack could be illustrated to remove the intimidation factor and encourage more informed/efficient node operation.
How does this help the Rocket Pool community?
New members of the community can be directed to these explainers as a gateway to further their Rocket Pool knowledge. Core concepts of Rocket Pool protocol could be grasped earlier, leading to better engagement and retention of potential stakers/community participants.
How does this help RPL holders?
Potential artwork could include exploring various options to stake your RPL, gain extra yield, tax implications etc.
What other non-RPL protocols, DAOs, projects, or individuals, would stand to benefit from this grant?
I think this work would incorporate a lot of education on the value of decentralization, trust, risk and a healthy network. The health of Ethereum should be important to everyone.
Will the resulting project be open source?
Yes
Team
Who is doing the work?
@sleety (released under the newly created TokenMotion.io / twitter.com/tokenmotion_io). Token Motion is a twitter account and website I have created to showcase and share similar educational artwork. Rocket Pool will be the first beneficiary, but I hope to add more DeFi projects in the future.
What is the background of the person(s) doing the work? What experience do they have with such projects in the past?

8+ GIF Animations per month (animated illustrations)
Each GIF will be accompanied by a tweet to aid comprehension
How is the work being tested? Is testing included in the schedule?

How will the work be maintained after delivery?
N/A
Payment and Verification
What is the acceptance criteria?

How will the GMC verify that the work’s deliveries match the proposed cadence?
Monthly publication of Artwork thread on Twitter
What alternatives or options have been considered in order to save costs for the proposed project?
Given the constraints of the GMC budget, my grant request is lower than my typical rate for such artwork. I have a vested interest in the success of Rocket Pool so I am happy that this is a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Conflict of Interest
Does the person or persons proposing the grant have any conflicts of interest to disclose? (Please disclose here if you are a member of the GMC or if any member of the GMC would benefit directly financially from the grant).
No
Will the recipient of the grant, or any protocol or project in which the recipient has a vested interest (other than Rocket Pool), benefit financially if the grant is successful?
No
